Time
01.11.2021 - 09.11.2021
Place
BFM, Zoom
Volume
28 academic hours (contact study 12 hours, independent study 16 hours)
Target group
Meistriklass on mõeldud režissööridele ja Judith Westoni meetodiga juba tutvunud osalejatele.
Objective
To learn about the actor-director-character relationship and the director’s responsibilities toward the actors, the characters, and the story. Practice exercises, using the active participants, to illustrate the concepts of listening, verbs, emotional event. Learn how Zoom rehearsals can be made useful.
Content
This workshop will be fully interactive. Session One. Q&A. Judith will respond to questions that have been submitted. Also during Session One, there will be exercises, using the “active participants,” to illustrate the concepts of listening, verbs, emotional event. Also to show how Zoom
rehearsals can be made useful.
Homework for session two (This homework needs to have been done before session 2; it’s okay if it has been done before Session 1):
Read script (When Harry Met Sally https://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/whenharrymesally.pdf ). In our “script analysis” we will delve into the screenplay in order to explore techniques of script analysis preparation with a “beginner’s mind.” We will not reference the finished film.
Look over the Script Analysis Guides (the Script Analysis Guide for Directors; the Script Analysis Addendum for Actors)
Session Two. Script Analysis exercises, using When Harry Met Sally. The script analysis exercise will be interactive—everyone will participate, back and forth, with questions and ideas. We will discuss ideas for the whole script. Plus, Judith will choose one or two scenes to
focus on, and demonstrate scene breakdown. Homework for sessions three and four: The “active participant” directors choose their scenes and cast the roles. Those who will participate in sessions 3 or 4 as directors spend time preparing (suggested: two hours). Those who will participate in sessions 3 or 4 as actors spend time preparing (suggested: 30 minutes to an hour; learn lines if you can; notice your ideas for choices)
Session Three and Four: Rehearsal exercises
